About: I Do So Love This Game
I had never really thought of having a blog before, but when the idea was presented (idea here, using the college student dictionary, can be literally defined as assignment) the first and only topic I could blog on was baseball. Its a great game played by all. Popularity may have waned since its greatest eras back in the 50s and 60s, but its still a great game. There may be crazed purists that bemoan changes to the game since then are tearing apart the game. Some people even disregard one league or another for various reasons. Still they all are following the same basic game.
I think the pioneers who built the American League, among them Connie Mack, one of my favorite baseball men, were revolutionary in ripping power from the National League magnates at the turn of the century. That said, my favorite team will always come from down around the border and reside in the NL West. On top of that I’ll always pull for the Senior Circuit in the All Star Game. But I see the beauty in an AL game and NL game equally. For that matter I see the same beauty, in that same game, everywhere its played. Whether a cathedralish shrine of a stadium in the big leagues, or a field just a step from the beach in Outer Banks, North Carolina, its the same, always astonding, beautiful game.
